    Launch of PV Alliance with EDF ENR & CEA within Photowatt factory near Lyon (1.000 employees at max) to develop high performance cells (> 20 % efficiency)

    Photowatt is 3 worldwide behind Siemens & BP (Solarex) on Mono and Poly crystalline cells technology.

  • 1997

    ATS (Canada) purchased Photowatt, and invested over €100m to increase its production from 3MW to 70MW.

  • 1979

    Photowatt is created as a research center from a Philips spin off (solar cells for NASA satellites)
